My name is Addison Alexander, and I would like to cordially welcome you to my blog, Salty Faith. I started this blog in the Spring of 2012 as a way of forcing myself to actively read and think about my faith at least once a week. I also wished to utilize it as a way of disseminating some of my ideas on faith and apologetics. And so far it has served its purpose well.
But just who am I anyway? Well, for starters, I'm a Christian. I strive to make this my primary identity in all aspects of my life (hence the creation of this blog). My primary occupation, however, is as a student. I am currently in college pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have chosen this career path out of my love for math and science as well as my desire to improve the lives of those around me.
Many people today seem to think that religion and science are two disparate pursuits which cannot be reconciled. I believe, however, that these two studies are in fact complementary and should be treated as such. There are a lot of misconceptions about science and faith in the world, and there are extremists on either side saying that one or the other is flawed. My place is somewhere in the middle of these two camps, professing the harmonious coexistence of empirical data and philosophic truth.
I am very excited that we have the chance to embark on this intellectual voyage together! By keeping our heads and opening our minds, we might just discover something new about the world (or maybe something new about ourselves). If you want to read more about the reasons behind why I am writing this blog, please read my first post here. Or feel free to e-mail me (addison.alexander@gmail.com) with any comments, concerns, or questions you might have.
My main purpose with this blog, as with most everything in my life, is to demonstrate as much of God's glory as possible, and I pray most sincerely that this will be accomplished. Thank you for reading any of my posts, and I hope you will continue to visit the site in the future.
